Instagram: A Few Days Later

mishitalesThings are starting to pick up thanks to all of those YouTube tutorials I watched.
I'm doing my own version of their advice, which is a combination of everything.
As I said previously, I only comment on photos I like to avoid sounding spammy. People have been replying, and I've been getting more likes and follows--except for follow/unfollow dickbags. One thing that seemed to be a trend across the tutorials I watched is that people are fed up with follow/unfollow! I am glad people are starting to notice and denounce it because it really is a dick move!
Once I find a method I am 100% happy with that works, I'll share it! I'm still in the experimental phase.
A tangent about why I care so much ;)
I care about Instagram because it's the one place I fit in with fellow artists and writers. I used to focus on joining writing groups to meet other creative people (and because I write), but I've learned that I just don't fit in there. At all.
I can lump them into three general categories:
1. Mommy Bloggers/Romance writers
2. A group of college students who all know each other in RL
3. Dude bros stuck in the past who are dicks about everything
4. Indie writers, but it's actually just a bunch of people spamming their books
That's pretty much it. I just don't fit in with normal writers, ha ha!
My experience has been kind of like that age old cliche of a young woman wearing a Captain America t-shirt, and some know-it-all dude bro decides to test her status as a "true" fan by quizzing her on some obscure reference from a comic book that came out in 1987. When she doesn't know the answer, he claims she's not a true fan.
I'm sure there are some awesome writing groups out there. I just haven't found them yet. ;)
